Defending SportPesa National Sevens Circuit champions KCB Rugby Club began their title defence with a 19-12 victory over Kabras Sugar RFC in the final of the season-opening Prinsloo 7s at Nakuru Athletics Club.
The win handed KCB their first Prinsloo 7s title since 2017, ending an eight-year wait and earning the Bankers a KSh 150,000 winners’ prize.
KCB Retain Composure Against Kabras
Kabras Sugar started the stronger of the two sides, moving 5-0 ahead when Mike Lukusu capitalised on a loose KCB kickoff the Bankers were unable to gather.
KCB hit back quickly, with Kenya Sevens international George Ooro crossing for their opening try, converted to hand the defending champions the lead.
Their advantage grew further when Kabras’ Jackson Lukeki was shown a yellow card for an illegal intervention, reducing his side to six players. KCB capitalised on the extra man, with Elvis Olukusi and Vincent Onyala both scoring to push the lead to 19-5 by halftime.
Kabras responded after the restart, Brian Mutua converting a try to bring the score to 19-12 and set up a tense finish. KCB’s defence held firm in the closing stages, however, sealing the win and opening their title defence with silverware.
Mwamba Ladies Retain Title, Zetech Oaks Dominate Division One

Defending champions Mwamba Ladies retained their Women’s Division One title with a 19-0 win over tournament newcomers Kiambaa Ladies, earning KSh 100,000 in prize money.
In the Men’s Division One final, Zetech Oaks delivered the tournament’s most dominant performance, routing Kabarak University 46-0 to claim the title and KSh 70,000.
Circuit Moves to Kisumu for Dala 7s
With the Prinsloo 7s concluded, the SportPesa National Sevens Circuit now shifts to Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Mamboleo, Kisumu, for the Dala 7s on August 1-2. Teams will be looking to build momentum as the race for the 2026 SportPesa National Sevens Circuit title continues.
