betPawa has rolled out a KSh 6.7 million grassroots football support programme that will benefit at least 575 players from 25 teams across Kenya.
The initiative, which targets both men’s and women’s teams, seeks to improve access to quality playing and training equipment for community-based clubs that often operate under limited financial resources.
As part of the sponsorship, players will receive full playing kits comprising jerseys, shorts, and socks, while teams have also been supplied with essential training materials including footballs, bibs, and goalkeeper gloves.
A total of 100 match balls, 575 training bibs, and 75 pairs of goalkeeper gloves have been distributed under the programme, which is expected to improve player preparation and create a more structured football environment at the grassroots level.
Among the clubs set to benefit are Maungu All Stars FC, Majengo FC, Mwendo FC, Kisii Wazee FC, Kapkorech Starlet, St Josephus Nakuru, Maringo United, Masimba Queens, Lugusi FC, Youngboys FC, Livewire FC, Panga FC, Black Stallion FC, UNESCO FC, Kangeta Youth FC, Kangami FC, Gategi Ladies, HCE FC, Falcon Queens, Arrows of Kajembe Starlets, Atletico Kangemi SC, Kibagare Girls FC, Kick It Kenya FC, Shimanzi FC, and Nyanturago Town Boys FC.
The programme comes amid growing concern over the challenges facing local football teams, many of which depend on community fundraising and well-wishers to acquire basic sports gear and facilitate training activities.
Speaking during the announcement, Borah Ndanyungu said the initiative was inspired by the immense untapped football talent found within local communities across the country.
“Because talent is everywhere in Kenya. You see it in community fields, in local leagues, in the quiet determination of players who show up every week, often with very little, but with everything to give,” she said.
The betting firm noted that supporting grassroots football is critical in creating pathways for young talent while also encouraging inclusivity within the sport.
Women’s football teams form a key part of the beneficiaries, highlighting betPawa’s broader efforts to champion gender equality in sports development initiatives across Africa. Through its Locker Room Bonus programme, the company has maintained equal bonus payouts for both men’s and women’s teams after victories.
The latest sponsorship further reflects increasing corporate interest in investing in grassroots sports as a way of nurturing talent, strengthening local leagues, and supporting community development through football.
