Future of Health (FOH) has launched a new global scholarship aimed at placing healthcare leaders from emerging markets at the center of international policy and research conversations.

The FOH Global Scholarship is designed to bring institutions from Africa, Asia, and other underrepresented regions into its influential network by funding full membership. The move is expected to reshape global healthcare discussions by incorporating real-world experiences from systems navigating resource constraints, rapid population growth, and evolving disease burdens.

Among the first recipients are Pakistan’s Aria Institute of Medical Sciences and M.P. Shah Hospital, highlighting a deliberate effort to integrate perspectives from both South Asia and East Africa into FOH’s work.

FOH currently brings together more than 50 senior leaders across healthcare systems, government, academia, and industry from 14 countries. Its core mission is to translate shared international experience into evidence-based recommendations that guide healthcare delivery and policy worldwide. With the introduction of the scholarship, that mission is being expanded to better reflect the diversity of global health systems.

“Global health challenges are increasingly interconnected, and solutions must reflect a wide range of realities,” said co-chairmen Eyal Zimlichman and Chip Kahn. They emphasized that including leaders from emerging markets will strengthen the relevance and applicability of FOH’s research outputs.

In Africa, M.P. Shah Hospital is playing a growing role in shaping modern healthcare delivery. Under CEO Toseef Din, the hospital has expanded its specialist services, embraced advanced medical technologies, and reinforced patient-centered care, positioning itself as a key referral institution in the region.

Participation in FOH will see the hospital contribute to global research initiatives, expert working groups, and peer-reviewed publications, while also engaging with international counterparts at the organization’s annual summit. The collaboration is expected to enhance knowledge exchange and support the development of more adaptive and resilient healthcare systems.

The scholarship also reflects a broader recognition that many of today’s most pressing healthcare challenges are unfolding in low- and middle-income regions. By bringing these perspectives into the core of global dialogue, FOH aims to ensure that future policies are both inclusive and grounded in diverse operational realities.

Open to philanthropic backing, the initiative includes a commitment by FOH to match contributions annually. The organization maintains that funding will remain independent of its governance and research priorities, safeguarding the credibility of its work.

As healthcare systems worldwide continue to evolve, the FOH Global Scholarship signals a shift toward a more balanced and inclusive approach—one where emerging markets are no longer on the margins, but actively shaping the future of global health.
